Objective
To facilitate acquisition of basic knowledge and necessary skills for research in Medicine and Proposal/Dissertation writing

Course Content

• Definition , Spectrum and Types of Health Research Design
• Defining Research Problems, Setting Objectives, Research Methods, and Statistics
• Writing Research Proposals (Planning, Protocol Development and Report Writing)
• Good Clinical Practices and Clinical Trials
• Role of Computer in Medical Research (EPI Info and SPSS)
• Literature Review, Use of Physical and Virtual Library, Use of Internet, Search Engines, Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis
• Ethical Considerations in Medical Research
• Clinical Governance
• Writing-Up , Presentation and Defense of Dissertation
• Faculty Based Group Discussion on Research Proposal (Practical Group Sessions)
• Evidence-Based Health Care
• Statistical Methods (Summary, Inferences and Interpretation)
• Basic Principles And Method of Writing Research Papers for Publications
• Practical Sessions on Processing of Proposal and Presentation to the College
• Budget and Sources of Funding for Research

Expected Participants
Medical Doctors preparing for the Final (Part II) Fellowship examinations of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in all specialties, Medical Officers of Health, Fellows and Other Medical/Dental Practitioners

Date: Monday 25^th - Friday 29^th July 2016

Time: 8.00 a.m. - 6.00pm daily

Course fee: N40, 000.00 per participant (Fees cover course materials, tea break and lunch)

Applicant are to pay through the Remita payment platform and note the Remita Retrieval Referral (RRR) number generated for payment purpose in line with the Federal Government Treasury Single Accounts (TSA). Mode: Non-residential

Attendance is mandatory for Residents doctors preparing for Part II Fellowship Examinations.

Participants are advised to come along with passport photograph to be affixed on the Certificate.

Certificates will be issued at the end of the workshop Participants will also earn MDCN CPD credit units
